This extravaganza started out as a single list of my favorite Naruto fics on my personal journal and then it grew so much that I decided to use this journal for fandom recs. I like making lists and making lists of lists so it works out. XD I also mod the hpgw_ficafest, clairequil, smrw_ficafest, and rwsm_ficafest.

I've added a few communities and some Naruto and Avatar fics, mostly gen recs. =) After this discussion, I had to remove a fic from my Scorpius/Rose list since it changed from being gen to Albus/Scorpius. *sigh* On a happy note, hpgw_otp noted the new Rose/Scorpius Fic and Art Fest, rwsm_ficafest, in today's edition. =) I should also explain that rwsm_ficafest is a challenge community where you can post fics, artwork, graphics and fanmixes, while smrw_ficafest is a fic and art exchange community. Either way, it leads you to more Scorpius/Rose and Rose/Scorpius. ;) I'm also trying to avoid all sorts of Avatar spoilers, but it's just too tempting to find out what happens. I can't believe we have to wait until July. *sigh*

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Neji/Tenten (NejiTen)

Friendly Advice by Sahara Storm (Team Gai)

This is a short fic that gives great insight into possible thoughts and actions of Tenten during the Chuunin exams. There's that hint of NejiTen, though my favorite part of it is Lee, because all three of them together make an awesome team.

Seasonal Society by NessieGG ((part of the New York Society series), SasuSaku, NaruHina, ShikaTema)

Like I've said before, I love this AU series. Nessie is a great NejiTen writer and I love how Neji's and Tenten's personalities transform into the modern life of NYC. They're essentially the same characters, who are drawn to each other. And to be honest, it's all of Nessie's NejiTen fics that have got me interested in this ship.

To Workaholics Everywhere by NessieGG

I enjoyed this fic because of the flow, the details, and the characters and because I can almost feel like I'm trying to work and go on a cruise at the same time. This is another great modern-day AU fic.

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Other Het Ships

Moonlight on Masks by kilerkki & nezumiko, chaptered WIP (HayateYuugo)

This is a great, complex fic. I love what these two authors have done with these characters and relationships. It's a complete universe in a ninja and ANBU-centered life. We only get a tiny glimpse of Yuugo and her feelings for Hayate in canon and this story really develops the possibilities of how they met and how it could lead into a relationship. One of my favorite moments is seeing Yuugo, Kotetsu and Izumo and other shinobi with their guard down, just having fun. Wonderful details and a wonderful story. And oh, if you have time, try some of Izumo's Chocolate Orgasm.

Fitting the Pieces by Aliora, chaptered (character death, NaruSaku)

This is the one NaruSaku fic that I really like because of the fascinating plot and well-written characters. It's a beautiful, well-developed story... heart-wrenching and compelling and eventually heart-warming. I don't normally read NaruSaku but this fic is captivating and in the end, I'm rooting for Naruto and Sakura to find each other.

Prompt: Infamy by firefly (slight KisameHana, Itachi)

I think the characterizations and descriptions in this fic are beautiful and engaging. There's a wonderful balance of curiosity and danger and attraction.

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Yaoi (slash) and Multiple Ships

Disclaimer: I normally don't slash and prefer yaoi ships, but something about these fics caught my eye. Plus, everytime I think of yaoi, I can't help but think of -- Warning: Yaoi (slash) image! -- Konohamaru's Oiroke no Jutsu in Chapter 347. I blame Kishimoto.

There's yaoi, threesomes and team fics. There's crack and angst and smut. Anything that's rated R and NC-17 is listed next to the linked fic. Don't blame me if your nose bleeds.

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Shikamaru/Temari (ShikaTema)

Three Days by Lotos-Eater

The first time I read this fic, I was almost speechless. Almost. It was heart-wrenching and beautiful and full of emotion and angst. The characterizations were amazing and the voices were fluid, in character and compelling. Written from Shikamaru's POV, I loved the tiny flashbacks and I felt Shikamaru grow in this fic. As for Temari, I loved seeing her as strong as a kunoichi but still vulnerable as a woman in love. This was absolutely beautiful. It's been 24 hours since I first read this fic and I've already reread it a dozen times.

Fifty Nine Moves by PaperButterfly7

This fic is one of my favorite one-shots, illustrating the different obstacles and stages of their relationship. I like the writing style and the references to shogi. It's a gorgeous fic.

Mostly Convenient by runespoor7 (NejiHina, NaruSakuSasu)

This fic really gives an angle to ShikaTema that you usually don't see. She's supporting him during a decision that I wouldn't normally expect from Shikamaru. Unlike after his first mission as leader, she doesn't taunt him and tease him, instead, she lets him be. These characters understand each other. This fic is romantic and intense and beautiful.

Catch 22 by Lotos-Eater, chaptered

This chaptered fic has romance, angst, and scenes with my favorite Naruto family, the Sand Siblings! I liked the flow of the story and the characterizations. Shika and Temari need to make difficult choices and it's hard when your heart and mind are in two different places. This fic is heart wrenching and touching but also humorous and sweet.

The Tease by IrisEclipsed, chaptered

LOL, oh Shika. He should know better, especially when there's the possibility that Temari's siblings are around.
Mila recommended this fic to me and it's still one of my favorites. Cute and sexy, Temari sure knows how to seduce Shikamaru. How can he resist her?
Whenever I read this fic, I'm always reminded of this fanart by RamaChan. I'd recommend reading the fic before looking at the fanart.

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Neji/Hinata (NejiHina)

A Distance Erased by thursday_kat, R

This is probably one of the first five NejiHina fics I read after I got over the first cousin squick and started looking through hyugacest for fics. The writing is smooth and the imagery is vivid and emotions are almost concrete. These characters come together so well in this story. Their relationship is slow and awkward in the beginning but the pacing is just right. It's full of angst and pain and love. It's a pretty long one-shot, and you just don't want it to stop.

*Note: While I've previously been uncomfortable reading relationships between first cousins, I somehow became transfixed with this relationship. There is potential for it to happen in canon, IMO, since the Hyuuga clan would more than likely want to keep the bloodlines pure, but what these two characters have been through and how writers have created stories for them show a beautiful side to this relationship. Plus, if Jane Austen can write about first cousins getting married in Mansfield Park, then I don't need to feel guilty about reading NejiHina. XD

Rosemary for Remembrance by Sintari, chaptered (NaruHina, yaoi)

This is probably one of the more popular multi-chaptered NejiHina fics. Sintari writes great stories and this is one of them. There's depth and emotional rollercoasters and intertwining plots and subtlety and mystery. There's a particular yaoi ship that squicked me, but I otherwise enjoyed this story. The characterizations are brilliant and you really fall in love with certain characters and despise other characters.

Things that could have happened had Hizashi been the older son. (A Cage is a Curse) by runespoor7, series of fics (AU, NaruHina)

The different scenarios are fascinating. Each fic has a different alternative universe, yet the dynamic of their interactions and relationship still sizzles.

Strawberries and Cream by solosan (Team 8)

This fic is just too cute to not read. milasmith recommended it and it's short, descriptive and hilarious. Watch out for nosebleeds.

Dare by Sahara Storm (Kunoichi)

I love the way this author describes her characters and their environments. It's always fun to read fics by this author and her descriptions and the dialogue of Hinata, Neji and their kunoichi teammates create brilliant characterizations.

Hinata’s got more pluck than you think.

You got that right. ;)

Oversights and Celebrations, (2/2) by runespoor7, chaptered, R (ShikaTema, NaruSakuSasu, KabuHina)

I love how this author weaves us through this story. Even when I reread this fic, I still feel the mystery and intrigue surrounded by their dinner conversation topic, Hinata's sex life. The descriptions are brilliant. You really get a sense that you're right there with all the characters from Team 8 to Team Kakashi and the original Ino-Shika-Chou. There's a lot going on in this story; there's so much backstory so it's fun to know that there are other fics to read in this universe.

Naruto: Fic Recommendations, Reviews, and Resources for Naruto/Hinata (NaruHina)

Napping the Fox by heron_advocate/trevorskeeper

In this one-shot, Hinata's teammates, Shina and Kiba, try to help Hinata out. Their mannerisms were in character and I loved their role as protective, big brother figures. Hinata is still shy and somewhat insecure but her confidence in Naruto is so strong and intense, it reminds me of the scene at the training grounds, right before the chuunin exams. Naruto unknowingly brings out the best in people.

Oh, and I love Team 8.

Misunderstandings by heron_advocate/trevorskeeper (Team Kakashi, Team 8, Team 10)

A wonderful one-shot starring Sai's attempt to give another nickname. I loved the reactions. I can't say more without giving it away.

Pure Genius by NessieGG (Story 4 of the New York Society series)

I think I've said it at least a dozen times about this series, but I love it, and now there's finally the NaruHina story! These characters still keep the essence of their personalities -- their insecurities, Naruto's volume and love of food, and Hinata's shyness. I think they are such an adorable couple and they can bring out the best in each other.
